Control Yuan holds Staff Exchange Program with Latin American Counterparts

Following the Staff Exchange Program with Asian and African Counterparts last month in June, the Control Yuan (CY) held the similar exchange program from July 22 to 24 with the staff of Latin American ombudsman offices. The program was joined by four participants, Mr. Tomas Dadic, Mr. Gian Sanchez, Ms. Vanessa Guapi, and Ms. Silvia Zeballos, from Argentina, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay respectively.
In the opening remarks, CY Member and the Chairperson of the International Affairs Committee, Dr. Louis Chao, extended a warm welcome to the participants. Meanwhile, he encouraged the CY staff to grasp the opportunity to learn the foreign experiences.
At the beginning of the three-day program, CY Member, Dr. Chou Yang-sun, lectured on the ROC constitutional system and control powers, providing the participants with the fundamental concept. Afterwards, the participants were briefed on the CY day-to-day work in charged by different departments. They also toured the National Audit Office (NAO) , the Complaint Receipt Center and the CY plenary meeting hall.
At the closing ceremony, the participants expressed their appreciation for the program and shared their feedback and comments. Mr. Dadic, the chief officer of El Defensor del Pueblo de la Nación Argentina, also the technical Secretary-General of the Iberoamerican Federation of Ombudsman (FIO), noted that he would speak with every member of FIO to continuously support the CY in participating the FIO annual meetings. At the end, he sang a Spanish song called ‘Twenty Years’ in expression of his thanks and drew a perfect close of the event.
