President of Control Yuan, Wang Chien-Shien, meets members of the Parliament of Argentina

  • PostDate:2010-12-09

President of Control Yuan, Wang Chien-Shien, met Ms. Patricia Bullrich and Mr. Mario Raymundo Fiad, members of the Diplomatic Committee of the Argentinian Parliament, on December 07, 2010. Vice President, Chen Jinn-Lih and Secretary General, Chen Feng-Yi were also present for the occasion. Both parties exchanged views on respective Control systems and expressed hope that the two countries could carry out more exchanges in the future.
President Wang emphasized that the Control Yuan supervises civil servants who violate the law or neglect duties in administrative institution; however it cannot supervise neither members of parliament nor intervene in juridical procedures. He also mentioned that members of the Control Yuan exercise their duties independently, even the President can not involve in their actions.
Ms. Bullrich indicated that Taiwan adopts the five-power system, which is different from three-power system of Argentina. Although the supervision organization exists in Argentina, it cannot exercise duties independently as the Control Yuan. The Parliament of Argentina has its ombudsmen who exercise power independently, and the juridical institution is supervised by the judges. In the end, she hoped that representatives from Taiwan can visit Argentina to exchange further opinions on the system of supervision (Control).
