The Control Yuan Members Mr. Hung, Chao-nan and Mr. Ger, Yeong-kuang left for Brussels, Belgium from November 18 to December 1, 2009 to participate in the International Symposium & 15th Anniversary of the Institution of the Walloon Region’s Ombudsman. There was broad discussions on the administration, mediation, communication, and the interactions between the press and the ombudsman. In the meantime, the sponsor unit mentioned several times to appreciate Taiwan delegates in this symposium. It was a very significant and successful attendance. Furthermore, the Control Yuan Members also called on the Belgium Federal Ombudsman, Ms. Catherine De Bruecker and Mr. Guido Schuermans as well as the European Ombudsman, Mr. Nikiforos Diamandouros on November 20 and 27. It was the Control Yuan’s first visit with the Belgium Federal Ombudsman in recent years. During the visit, both sides exchanged opinions about the ombudsman system between the East and West in a harmonious atmosphere and established good relations with each other.
Meanwhile, for better understanding of the routine work of our offices on foreign & overseas Chinese affairs, cultural & education affairs as well as information affairs, the Control Yuan Members inspected the Taipei Representative Office in Belgium and France on November 20 and 27, 2009.
