President & Mrs. Fredrick F. Chien of the Control Yuan left for Helsinki, Finland from October 8 to 17, 2004 to participate the 2004 Annual Conference of the Finnish Association for the Club of Rome. The main issue was “Limits to Ignorance: The Challenge of Informed Humanity,” focusing on the contradictory development: On the one hand we recognize an increasing flow of information that may provide us with more knowledge. On the other hand we also identify a growing information overload causing confusion and disorientation and an increasing tendency on misuse of information and information channels.
In the workshops, President Chien exchanged ideas and experiences with participants around the world. During this trip, Chien also met with Finnish Ombudsman Ms. Riitta-Leena Paunio to reconfirm bilateral relations.
