In order to promote exchanges and communications with Board of Directors of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and to maintain the relation between our country and the IOI, the Chairman of the International Committee of the Control Yuan Dr. Louis R. Chao left for Canada from July 25 to August 5, 2003 to visit the new IOI Board of Directors: Mr. Howard Kushner, Board Member of the IOI and Ombudsman of British Columbia; Mrs. Pauline Champoux-Lesage, 2003 IOI Executive and Québec Ombudsman; and Mr. Clare Lewis, President of the IOI and Ontario Ombudsman. In a friendly atmosphere, Dr. Chao widely exchanged ideas with them on ombudsman system, jurisdiction, and the process to handle complaints. During this trip, he also inspected the Taipei Economic and Cultural Offices in Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto.
