Members of the Control Yuan, Dr. Louis R. Chao and Dr. Hsi-muh Leu, left for Australia to attend the 20th Australasian and Pacific Ombudsman Regional Conference (APOR) from November 3 to 14, 2002. This was the first presence of the Control Yuan after its Regional Constituency of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) was transformed into a full membership. Dr. Chao made a brief introduction of the control system of the ROC and the work of the Control Yuan in the conference. Meanwhile, Dr. Chao and Dr. Leu also exchanged ideas and opinions with other participants. After the conference, they visited the Office of Commonwealth Ombudsman of Australia and made inspections of the Taiwan Power Company and Tai Sugar Company's investments in Australia, and Taipei Economic and Cultural Offices in Australia and Melbourne.
