A delegation of 30 high-ranking military officers and their spouses from Central and South America visited the Control Yuan (CY) on the morning of May 22, 2014. The visitors met with CY President Wang Chien-shien and CY Member and Chairperson of the International Affairs Committee, Dr. Louis Chao, for discussions.
President Wang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and thanked the course organizer, National Defense University, for arranging the visit to the CY. He noted that he has been to several Latin-American countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala and Paraguay, and was fascinated by their natural and cultural beauty.
He also briefly explained the CY functions and powers to the guests, and then answered questions from the floor. General Hector Estuardo Espinoza Estrada of Guatemala inquired about the result of an impeachment case against a city governor, which he learned about during the guided tour to the CY display room earlier. Dr. Louis Chao was one of the investigating members in the case and therefore was able to provide a detailed explanation of the case handling and punishment.
At the end of the visit, Colonel Carlos Tuse Lloclla of Peru, speaking on behalf of the delegation, thanked the CY for its hospitality.
Also attending the meeting was CY Deputy Secretary General Hsu Hai-chuan.
