  • PostDate:2016-03-25

A delegation of the Ombudsman Office of Thailand visited the Control Yuan (CY) for exchanges of practical experience on March 23, 2016. The delegation was led by Chief Ombudsman Siracha Vongsarayankura and included academics and investigators from the office.
During the visit, Professor Siracha extended an invitation to CY President Chang Po-ya to attend the 11th World Conference of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) to be convened in Bangkok this coming November. President Chang expressed her appreciation for the invitation and said she looks forward to attending the event, for which she wished the greatest of success.
Noting that both the CY and the Ombudsman Office Thailand are members of the IOI, President Chang mentioned that the two institutions have maintained a close and friendly relationship over the years, including regularly sending staff to take part in each other’s workshops and exchange programs. She also expressed her sincerest gratitude to the chief ombudsman for the warm reception accorded by his office to CY Member Dr. Bau Tzong-ho when he visited Bangkok last year.
For his part, Professor Siracha said he feels delighted to visit Taiwan at a time when his government is in the process of drafting a new constitution, pointing out that he would take this opportunity to learn more about Taiwan’s political structure as well as its civil service system.
A meeting was held in the afternoon to allow the visiting delegates to engage in exchanges with several CY staff from various departments. The gathering was very productive, with the two sides sharing practical experience as well as ideas on ombudsman work.
During their three-day stay in Taiwan at the invitation of the CY, the delegates also paid a visit to the Examination Yuan to gain a greater understanding of the Republic of China’s civil service system.
