President Chang Meets President of Guatemala Constitutional Court Mr. Molina

Control Yuan (CY) President Chang Po-ya met with the President of the Constitutional Court of Guatemala Mr. Roberto Molina Barreto and his wife on the afternoon of August 26, 2014. President Chang extended a warm welcome to the guests and they exchanged ideas on the work of their respective agencies.
In her opening remarks, President Chang welcomed the chance to introduce the unique five-branch system of government in the Republic of China (ROC) and its supervision power to the guests from afar. Besides briefing them on the appointment process of CY members and Auditor-General, President Chang emphasized that the CY spares no efforts to ensure the integrity and good governance of the administration and thereby protects human rights.
Mr. Molina noted that, apart from the CY, he would also visit the Judicial Yuan and the Examination Yuan during this trip to gain a better understanding of the five-power system. Mr. Molina also briefly introduced the development of the Guatemala Constitution. He affirmed the importance of constitutional education at the early stage. The Court has therefore published comic books and cartoons targeting young readers. He particularly thanked the ROC Ambassador to Guatemala Mr. Adolfo Sun for his support of the project.
Mr. Molina expressed hopes to maintain bilateral exchanges with the ROC, noting that the essence of globalization lies in cooperation among countries worldwide. He also invited President Wang and CY colleagues to visit Guatemala.
The guests were accompanied by Guatemala Ambassador to ROC Mr. Arturo Romeo Duarte Ortiz. Also present were CY Vice President Sun Ta-chun, members Dr. Jane Y.W. Chiang and Mr. Fang Wan-fu, Secretary General Mr. Fu Meng-jung, and Deputy Secretary General Mr. Hsu Hai-chuan.
